My husband and I have just bought our first home about a month ago (at 21y/o!!).
A lot of fast and bland renovations were done by the previous owners(see 2nd photo for the reno and 3rd photo for pre-reno). We are trying to slow slowly make it our own.
On the agenda right now are these bookshelves my husband is in the process of building, removing the mantle, and filling in the TV hole (I HATE that thing).
Anyways, my dilemma is what color to paint the shelves and countertops (I would keep the current color bc it’s beautiful, but it’s just plywood). I love our wall color and initially thought I would pain the shelves the same, but the trim and cabinet color is throwing me off. The previous owners chose a very bright, very glossy white.
What would you do?

You could do a deep blue color with a matching wallpaper behind the shelve, a combo like this
