Hi there guys! We bought our house last year and have been slowly doing some home improvements but I am absolutely stumped by this bathroom. We do not have the money to do anything major as of right now, but it’s such an eye sore – it’s functional (although I have never used the bath and never will because it quite frankly scares me lol)
The layout is very strange to me. No where to put a mirror over the sink. There are 4 doors, 3 of them which open into the furnace area and is used for storage, and 1 of them is a small closet. Then another “closet” (or used to be) for the laundry.
What is strangest to me is it seems someone has actually painted everything in between the tiles to brown. When I look in the closet where the tile continues, the paint stops, so I don’t think it’s grout… very weird. I’m open to any suggestions and sorry it’s a little dusty in there! It’s where the cat litter is.

Paint the wall above the tile white or a lighter color at least and use the tub! You might appreciate being able to soak for a while.
They’ve probably (hopefully) used coloured grout sealer (and not paint). I’d try to find a swatch close to the lightest colour in your tile and paint the walls, that beadboard on the front of the tub, that divider wall for the tub. Add some bath mats and plants. Bamboo or light wood decor. Save spending anything beyond lipstick to do a good renovation when you’re ready.
And run the tub with jet cleaner to make its clean, and then enjoy it!

Paint the wall with a warm white or even a light grenn moss if you like it, few decorations on the wall, a rug and a roman shade.
