Thanks to a leaking dishwasher, my plans to remodel my kitchen have just moved up in priority. House was built in 1966. The “pairs of pears” wallpaper border that looks like scrotums hanging around the kitchen has bothered me since I bought the place. The kitchen is open to the den. The den portion has the original hardwood floors. The kitchen has at least two layers of awful sheet linoleum that is now warped and wavy after the dishwasher seal failed. Not sure yet what the subfloor looks like.

I am going for a maximalist/color drenched look in a palette of 60s/70s teal, burnt orange, bright olive green (the part around the can lights was just painted), mustard yellow, and occasional other jewel tone highlights.

I have these knobs/pulls that I would love to use but can’t find hinges that match the pewter finish. The walls are painted paneling and I kinda like the original wood cabinets.

The current countertop and backsplash are Formica and I am not sure I’ll be able to replace the countertop at the same time depending on what I do with the floors. I have tile picked out that I like but my husband thinks it won’t “go” with the rest of my ideas. And I have been told I would regret using dark slate grey or matte black floor tile.

I always have trouble pulling ideas together into a cohesive design. My living room/dining room that these rooms open into are a little mid century with a bohemian/eclectic look (I replaced the classic chandelier clear crystal with teal and amber crystals, the walls are bright green and the sari patchwork curtains bring in a variety of jewel tone colors).

I’m looking for specific product suggestions for flooring, backsplash, countertop, and a new sink. I want to keep the existing cabinets, at least for now.

Nice covers but first things first, you must, please, get rid off the 80’s wall paper borders.
