I just love Languedoc reds. There is something honest and unpretentious about them, even in an appellation that calls itself "The 1er cru of Languedoc", Minervois-La Livinière.
This one here has a deep ruby colour. Nose of black cherries, forest fruit, blackcurrant as well as some menthol, cloves and black pepper. Medium+ acidity, medium+ body, tannins that bring Provençal herbs to mind; slightly detectable alcohol. It is lovely, lively, maybe a touch rustic…I don't mind, pour me another one!
