  1. Notes

Decided it was the right time to open this one from the cellar to pair with roasted leg of lamb dinner last night. 60 minute double decant was all it needed to open up.

Color is a deep ruby core bricking out to the rim. Nose is medium plus to high intensity with black olive tapenade, ripe blackberry, black cherry, plum, lavender, sage, lots of salinity, iodine, perfume, hints of dried date and fig, hints of jamon Iberico. Palate is olive brine on the initial attack giving way to stewed and fresh ripe plum, blackberry, black cherry, green olive and olive pit, garrigue, burnt sage, very saline. Medium body, medium minus acidity, moutfeel is elegant, tannins are resolved but very slight grip, long saline finish. 94 points.

Thanks for the notes, this is a great producer. Their white is very good as well, and significantly cheaper.

Man, 98 in the Southern Rhône is sneaky glorious. 10 years ago I would have said they werent going to drink well any further, but they have bounced back spectacularly IMO. We opened a mag of 98 Fortia recently and it was impeccable. Cheers!
