I am purchasing my family home from my sister. I want to update this kitchen. The quality of the cabinets is good, cherry wood but I want a more modern look to the kitchen. I don’t think I can afford to replace the stone. I want to take the Tuscan look to a more clean look. Any ideas would be helpful. Thank you.

What an awesome kitchen. It’s beautiful and big with tons of cabinet space and great light. I think a little will go a long way. The backsplash is the biggest thing that screams “Tuscan”, otherwise everything else is versatile. Id replace the backsplash and update the hardware. Those are the easy fixes.
Also consider removing the cabinets on either side of the stove, and the single cabinet between the windows and put in open shelves. I know open shelving is on the way out, but you’d only be replacing a portion of the cabinets and because it’s a high wall and the cabinets don’t go to the ceiling and don’t fit around the vent hood, shelves would look better, and more modern. It would also eliminate some of the fussy trim that has a more traditional look. Or leave the wall blank and bring the backsplash up higher.
