This bottle is from L’Opera des Vins, Jean-Pierre Robinot’s negociant project (his estate wines are labeled L’Ange Vin). It is 100% old-vine Chenin Blanc from the Loire, which spent 15 months aging on its lees in old oak. As all Robinot wines, it is unfined, unfiltered, and has no added SO2.
Tasting Notes: Medium, hazy gold color. Nose of orange zest, white flowers, and some flinty minerality. Citrusy, mineral palate with vibrant acidity — maybe a touch too high for my taste at this point in its development. Medium+ length, saline and slightly spicy finish. Overall an enjoyable, chuggable wine, but not as complex or interesting as other Robinot Chenins I’ve tasted (an older L’Ange Vin ‘Juliette’ being my favorite).
