Hi there! I work at a community college and our little computer lab we have for the GIS department feels so uncomfy…

Since I have to be in there a lot, I want to do some updating. I am working on getting either tall lamps with warm lighting so I don't have to use the gross florescent lights, and I am planning on painting the walls and adding some plants.

I was trying to think of ideas for the desks the students use. It feels cluttered and out dated and I just want them to WANT to be there, you know? On a selfish level- I need to WANT to be there, I feel so un-productive when it feels this way. 😛

Please send all and any ideas for this project (we are on a low budget, so the more DIY the better)

Could print out some motivational posters for the walls. Fairy lights and fake greenery will make a space more homey immediately. Maybe start hosting a movie night on the projector!

Can you paint? If so blues would go well with that carpet. Maybe following this palette:

Then find some blue, green or yellow pops of color that are also inexpensive. Potted plants in these colors of vases on those shelves would look great. Can you get some desk lamps in blue, green or yellow, kind of interspersed throughout?

After painting two walls a light blue (second blue from the left on the palette) and the other two walls the middle blue color, add a funky painted computer on to the largest wall. Surely there are some artists in your midst!

    Edit: spelling

Our yearbook lab had small table lamps at each station it was cozy and better for the kids eyes too. Might be able to thrift them and paint them a unifying color.
