Attic access in stairwell. Tips to make it look more appealing?

Hey everyone! We have this eye sore attic access in our upstairs stairwell and I’m sick of looking at it every time I walk down these stairs. Do you have any tips to make this look more appealing? I’ve thought about a large picture to cover it or even painting it the same color as the wall, but I’d love to hear what you think!
