Thought I would come home and see if the two bottles of Dinavolo I have been sitting on were still with me. I popped the cork but immediately noticed it had been leaking for some time. I found the culprit from when I had a wine fridge and under my wine rack some months ago. I had a lot of bottles that were once in the wine fridges but both broke down a year ago and my apartment isn’t temp controlled.

To my pleasant surprise it’s still alive and though quite aged by now, it’s dominated by a lot of tertiary notes like dried herbs, leather, dried spice side by side with a touch of sherry note, the whiff of a purse stored away in the closet with perfume still lingering on it; dried cherry and other dark fruits, a pinpoint of their concentrated sweetness floating within an otherwise neutral tea-like pastry. Noticeable tannins but in line with the acidity and medium bodied.

Let’s hope the older second bottle is still alive too 😅
