I hope I’m not posting too much as I’ve been opening at least one interesting bottle a week during this lovely Alsatian spring we’re having. Sicily always grabs my attention and with art like this I felt I had to try this producer for the first time. Was very tempted by their Cataratto/Zibbibo (and still am) but ultimately went with a grape variety I’m not at all familiar with, Insolia. It’s supposed to taste nutty according to Wikipedia but tasted of ripe pear with watermelon rind notes, almost a hint of cantoulope. Overall it reminded quite a bit of a nice Junmai sake. Balanced acidity and dryness but likely not for everyone.
