If it’s real wood how about staining the countertop to be a dark walnut?

Great improvement. Couple suggestions:
1. Paint and or redo trim around the window. Leaving the oak trim appears out of place and your eye goes right to it. 2. Do the back splash with some tiles. Very easy to do yourself and relatively inexpensive depending on tile chosen. Subway tiles work well

Do you have the budget to replace the countertop? Thereโs some really nice Formica countertops out there if you arenโt looking to spend a ton.
I second the advice to paint the window trim white but it depends on what the rest of trim in the room looks like.
Tile for the backsplash would really tie things together.

I agree with an above comment on painting the window trim white. As is or darker, it hides your new light fixture. White will help it stand out. I really like the green youโve selected for the cabinets. Very cozy. I also agree with another comment about a darker stain counter. Can some of the counter items get tucked away? Not the cabinets so thereโs real space between each item? Plants above the cabinets would be great. Something to close the visual space above the cabinets like windows panes and plant mix. Looks good, OP!

I love that you painted the cabinets a color other than white or gray. Thank you. Good work! Agree with other comments about going white with the window trim.

Check out ‘fantasy brown’ it’s Dolomite and has a great flow pattern (natural stone) with different shades of white/gray/brownish even a sort of light sage looking color. I got the leather finish, even has a bit of sparkle here and there depending on lighting.

Looks great and kudos! Way better than before. Personally I wouldn’t paint the window trim; I think it’s a nice contrast now. The countertop looks fine to me. A white engineered quartz would also look nice.

White painted window trim for sure, along with a mostly white solid surface countertop and tile backsplash to fit your personal taste
