The library is free and open to the public.

Is this where the library scene from the film Seven was shot?

Worked over 2 dozen weddings there. Great care is taken to conserve every element of the space, it’s amazing. As I recall you can’t even serve red wine. Had to use special non tack tape as a musician.

Baltimore is way more beautiful and soulful than it gets credit for

Is this Hogwarts library? Come to think of it, not sure if we actually ever get a proper view but I get HP vibes anyway

I ate a fancy dinner in there one time! It was great!

  11. Baltimore needs to tell everyone about this and not The Wire😄

I’ve done some research here! You can still smell the Baltimore fire in some of the books.

I lived around the corner for years recently and adored this space. It’s absolutely gorgeous inside! It’s attached to the Peabody Conservatory, and sometimes students hold concerts there, and it’s just dreamy.

As a library, it’s extremely niche. Early American texts, but boring ones, like volumes on the census of Somerville, MA in the 1800s. So most won’t really enjoy it as a library, but it is a very pleasant space to be in. It’s across from a lovely park with the original Washington Monument, and in the summer hosts live music, movies, etc. I miss living in the Mt. Vernon neighborhood of Baltimore on a daily basis!

J/K This place is ultra-cool. I wish there was some practical use for these old libraries, but in reality there isn’t. They have been replaced by the Internet. Even when you enjoy reading books, you’re not going to do it here. This is a museum space. I hope it lasts, but I fear it won’t.
