Definitely white, as you have dark countertops, dark backsplash, and medium-dark appliances.

You are not going to like this answer, but if you want to update this kitchen then you are probably looking at new cabinets – and it’s exceedingly hard to not damage/reuse countertops and backsplash when tearing out your old cabinets to replace with new.
If you paint a heavily grained oak, like you have, the paint is going to wear faster then a stain, the rougher grain of oak is going to show underneath the paint.

The easy answer is white. Your other design elements are perfect for white cabinets.
The problem is that **everyone** is doing white. Don’t get me wrong. I redid my kitchen to white, but that’s partly because I have loved the look for years. My counters and backsplash are blue, so I love what I’ve done.
**However**, if you’re afraid of your kitchen looking dated in a while, stay away from white unless you’re excited about white cabinets. What will make you and your family happy?
(Of course, this assumes you’ll be living there for a while. If I’m wrong, forget everything I said.)

Benjamin Moore French gray
It looks like an off white light gray. Would be perfect for this kitchen!

I think white is your best answer here. Some may say it’s the trend and will become dated, but for a 5 year home I think you’ll be ok. White cabinets will always be in kitchens because they’re such a clean look AND it’ll really show off that cleannnn grout.

You could look at getting vinyl coverings – there are plenty of useful videos on YouTube of how to work the wood, heat up to get rid of bubbles etc! You don’t have to do anything apart from wrap them and if they look bad you can just take it off!
I’d go for a light grey colour and maybe change the handles for copper !

Last picture in link is what your looking at for your setup… dark counters/backsplash… grey cabinets (don’t replace – can paint them)… and a white or off-white/very light grey on walls

Dark blue with copper handles
My pleasure!!!
The black always goes well with wood tones, but if you are going to remove the cabinets try white.
