  1. Cabinets with molding and marble countertops really give it that industrial feel. /s
    looks good though! Congrats!

I can tell you did a lot of work here, but I can’t help feeling it looks a little like a showroom? Where the style of the kitchen doesn’t fit the space. Have you considered installing a ceiling?

On it’s own, the kitchen is very nice. On it’s own, the space is very nice. Together? They do not mix at all. The kitchen has a farm house look to it. You could easily see this kitchen in any new construction home in America. The rest of the space has an industrial warehouse aesthetic which does not match the light, airiness of the kitchen. This is most obvious just in the color schemes. The kitchen is all white. The stairs are dark metal and brown brick. I think it would help if these had some overlap to blend the two but they’re so starkly separated. For instance, if the brick carried through to the back splash in the kitchen, it may feel more cohesive.

  4. That’s just a kitchen without a roof. I’d suggest some large tin patterns or at least paint.

at first look this is odd, the styles dont match, but the more i look at it the less i dislike it. I think we complementary dining room furntiure and other decor it would look less odd at first glance.

I absolutely love it!!! It’s different and I’ve never seen a kitchen like this, it looks super cool

If people ask what I want I show them this

What makes it industrial besides exposed ceiling?

  9. BeerMeSuperman

Timber lofts in Chicago are the best. West Loop? Streeterville?

I love the space and I love the kitchen, but they are very different styles.

Paint it a gunmetal colour. It pulls look great.

  12. completely different vibe than the rest of the place, weird choices

  13. daniellaie

might be the odd one out but i am IN LOVE with this! i love the mix of styles!

I like the juxtaposition. Looks great, not everything has to match exactly for something to work.

    This is really bizarre.

Not only does the style of the kitchen completely not match the space, but that ceiling is a mess. I get the industrial non-drywall look, but who would do that with a maze of PVC plumbing pipes with purple primer? It looks like somebody was just too lazy to re-drywall the ceiling.

  16. LordyItsMuellerTime

It’s pretty but it looks like it doesn’t belong

  17. Personally I love it to pieces, darker kitchen colors could have worked better imo but this is beautiful wow congrats thanks for sharing

  18. I love the kitchen layout, the amount of prep space, cabinet space and the bar. This looks like a kitchen that was built to be used which is not as common as it should be in kitchen remodel.

I think the reason a lot of posters are mentioning the incongruity of the design here is because of the doors and panels of the cabinets. I can’t quite tell if those are raised panel or Mullion because of the shadows, but it is a *very* traditional look for a non-traditional space. Usually, raised panel or Mullion doors are used in traditional design, cottage, french provincial, etc. Point being its most common in either off-the-shelf kitchens, or in cozy, traditional homes.

Slab cabinet doors this would look very modern and in keeping with the design of the space. The island, for example, fits so well few people seem to have noticed. The low sheen finish on the island makes the piece of stone on top look much more high end than just on white.

The boxes above the cabinets are a little jarring as well. If that is additional storage space you need and use: disregard. Otherwise: It closed the distance between the cabinets and ceiling which has made the industrial look seem less intentional and more unfinished. If everything above the doors were removed, your kitchen would look much more fit to the space. Industrial spaces can house almost any design as long as the room is *clearly* separated from the space.

I don’t know if you plan to add rugs, but that will help create separate spaces as well.

This is awesome! If you painted the island a warm brown color to match the ceiling wood and light fixture, it would really tie it together more.

I legitimately commend you for being brave enough to post this – secure in your own decisions.

  21. HansBrinkerVash

I love everything but the dark floor color would give me depression

  22. Should have used cast iron for the plumbing. The PVC looks crap.

  23. Champii_007

Thai so absolutely beautiful, damn right sexy 🏆

  24. pajaimers

I love it. I live in an area with a lot of old factory lofts and I’m a sucker for this look.

  25. andersvix

I think it looks fantastic. Seems like people are jealous?

  26. nicechiquis
