Absolutely lovely. I would love to add stained glass to my home one day. Saving for future inspiration.

The tile design on the floor is lovely. Anybody have any idea where they were made?

This is absolutely beautiful, but please shut that door, it’s freezing in here!

You know it’s fancy when there is windows around the door

This is a dream! Feels like stepping back in time in the most beautiful way

I got this umbrella from the bin at the coffee shop.

“Those belong to people, you know”

  7. That entire hallway is absolutely beautiful!
    Damn!

I saw this in every break in commercial. They always use this door, break through the glass, and turn the knob and enter your home while you are playing polo.

I love everything about this. The floor, the door, the coat rack, the lighting. Everything.

I love everything about this! Our doors are similar with boring glass.

    Also, kudos on the rug.

Does anyone else find this pic oddly creepy?

Man, really thought that was someone’s face at the top of the coat rack for a sec. Maybe Eric Wareheim, looking to the left.

  13. Honestly this room just reminds me of the Taskmaster house entrance

    Very pretty!

You can see it’s been broken and repaired in a way that probably even saved the original glass too.

Normally, you’d replace the entire piece of glass to make it look as if it never broke. This is cool though.

Can r/smarthome recommend a smart lock for this door? /s

I love Victorian houses. They’re just neat.

I dunno, they just reflect their era in really interesting, sometimes subtle ways. They aren’t just old houses, they’re designed to (among other things of course) reinforce the social structure. You walk in, and you’re basically in a waiting room until someone comes to greet you. You may or may not be welcome, so don’t get comfy.

With an open Floorplan, if an unexpected visitor drops by, your clutter and mess is all just kinda right there. With a Victorian house, you can kinda say “this part of the house is for close friends and family, this part is for guests, and this part is for me.”

If you make dinner, you can then eat dinner without having to look at the dishes you have to wash after dinner.

They aren’t particularly welcoming, but they’re cosy and compartmentalized.

Bonus points for being the only kind of house that can have a dumbwaiter without it feeling silly.

  18. I’m guessing those aren’t double-glazed at all. How is it in the current -5’c weather?

ooooh those floor tiles too, how beautiful

“Close the door, we’re not heating the outside!”

As a Designer I just say WAY too much and way busy. I don’t know Minton. But all that stained glass with that floor. Just TOO BUSY. If I could afford it I’d take it all down and go with some really tall, “grand” doors like they do in Europe. Maybe this is Europe and. “Thing” there.

this reminds me of the Karate Kid movie with Jackie Chan

  23. littlepurplepanda

Oh I used to live near there! And we had those exact same tiles
