Herve Villemade’s ‘Bovin’, Gamay glou-glou

  1. 100% Gamay, natty juice from the Loire.

Fantastic producer from the Loire, Herve decided to do a special bottling of some of his Gamay in liters because it’s just so dang gluggable. The bottle may looked banged up but that’s because this cuveé is done entirely in recycled glass – I’ve seen both clear and dark green bottles used for this wine, which I think is pretty damn cool 😎

Nose: brandied cherries, ripe raspberry, touch of barnyard funk which blows of rather quickly

Palate: spicy dark cherry followed by bloodlike iron-y minerality. Some acid but not too jammy.

Food pairing: charcuterie?? Idk…definitely made for shooting the shit with friends rather than the dinner table

Uncomplicated, unfussy, delicious. Pretty approachable all things considered, this would be a great wine to introduce to people just getting to to know natural wine. Ipso facto, great for your next fall picnic or when your Hinge date finally invites you over.
