    Hi!

First off, sorry for my grammar. I’m Dutch so I’m not a native speaker. But let’s give this a go and let me walk you through this.

The loft you are seeing is one of the lofts in one of the oldest Philips factories in Eindhoven. This factory is where Philips (sort of, not quite) originated, and where Anton and Gerard Philips invented i.e. the lightbulb (sorta) and the radio (sorta). Later Philips would invent the cd (sorta). I’m from Eindhoven (sorta) and we’re all very fond of Philips.

Well now this loft is VERY industrial, which is awesome but does come with some challenges. The building has been renovated, obviously, since it used to be a factory, but as you can see the windows and (high) ceilings are still as they were back in the day. The hallways are very impressive as well. If you want to google the new stuff: Anton gebouw in Eindhoven!

Anyways. The windows in the front of the building are very high (4m) and wide (9m) and because of that there is a lot of light, and also, there are a lot of metals because of the old industrial stuff. Also it came with an industrial style kitchen. This is super cool I think, BUT I did want to add warmth to the appartement.

Because of that I chose a (sort of?) crossover between warm minimalism and scandi. Obviously those have a lot in common. The whites, the woods (which I mixed of all kinds, like a menace) and the minimalism. I love japandi but I couldnt pull that of I think. So this is what it resulted in: whites, wood tones and a lot of texture with stuff like wool and burlap.

To be clear: I am not done yet. I don’t even have ceiling lights and curtains yet. I’m not going for a dining table tho, I’m very single lmao, BUT I will be buying a big white chair to fill the space in the back of the loft. So yeah! I’m no interior designer as you probably know by now but I did my fair share of research and I would love to know what you all think! 🙂

If it is in Anton, did they notify you that they are going to build a huge flat next to the skatepark that will block your view?

Thanks for the photo and info.

Now to the most important question: what does your cat think of the new place? 🙂

  4. Strijp S, dat is toch wel het allermooiste stukje van onze stad!

what about direct sunlight? you have no shading…..how hot is it getting?
i cant clearly see it but are those modern insulating windows? is it reasonable heateable?

That’s awesome I always wanted a industrial lift with a those commercial elevators. Here in Vancouver this loft would be at least $6-10million CAD

I love it! You could get some nice cushions to brighten it up so that area is not so brown

  11. Terrible TV placement, putting it right Infront of a radiator

Omg OP this is my dream. A warehouse turned into a home. I have a Pinterest folder for it. Congrats on the purchase! It looks fantastic and your furnishings suit it perfectly!

Looks cool, congrats on a dream buy !

I didn’t know what an industrial loft was, that they even existed or that I wanted one before I saw this post. But now I really want one

It looks great OP, you did a great job 🙂

Lovely place. I like the industrial style although personally I’d be tempted to add Art Deco elements to accentuate the 1920’s core. Very clever to colour coordinate your cat with the rest of the decor.

My friends just moved to Eindhoven and showed me around last week. They also introduced me to the building you mentioned in your post. I was asking myself how it might look like from the inside.
Funny, that Just a week after that trip I see someone on Reddit actually living there :D.

Please post more photos. The place looks super comfortable and nice. The windows are to die for!

Philips was the largest founding investor in TSMC, but they sold their stake and now Chinese make televisions branded as “Philips”. RIP European giant.

Heel gaaf! Die grote ramen en vensterbanken vragen wel om wat groen, mits de kat het toelaat 😅

  22. Deepnewpaper

Congrats on your new place! I love the couch. Where is it from?

  23. indecisivepotter

Amazing!! We just bought a converted warehouse flat in London, do you find that you can see the TV with it placed there? We’re struggling with where to put it because we don’t have much wall space.

  24. Awesome! Wij hebben de zelfde bank!

Dit is ook wel lang en soort van droom om zo te kunnen wonen, of dat ook ergens vlakbij Rotterdam kan weet ik niet?

I have absolutely no interest in living in a city, but if I had to live in one I would want it to be an old factory/warehouse these places look so cool. Nice place

Is that a ghost in the blue room or..? I did just get finished smoking. Lol. I feel like I see a hand and silhouette of a person for the most part. Hmm

    Eta: beautiful room
