Professional kitchen designers save more than they cost. They get better deals on cabinets than I as a GC can. When we did our own kitchen it’s way better because she talking me out of my stupid ideas. My clients say the same things. In my experience, do not design your own kitchen. It’s not a skill you have and it’s easy to make expensive mistakes.

Maybe try adding a cabinet over the fridge and a thin panel the color of the cabinets on the outside of the fridge so it has a built in space and doesn’t look like it is just hanging out there in the middle of the room

I don’t think you should keep the island. It looks like it will be very annoying to work around in that small space.
I don’t think you should mount the microwave. Especially not next to a regular vent.
Add a cabinet above the fridge and make it look built in. I actually don’t like the fridge placement at all it looks very out of place
Kitchen sink and dishwasher looks small? I would opt for a full size dishwasher. And the largest sink you can fit

The microwave looks awkward. I agree with others you need to frame the fridge. I think the lack of any symmetry might be throwing off the eye. I’m not saying everything should be symmetrical, but just frame larger items (stove, fridge) in a pleasing manner. I think the sink placement does this nicely.
Also, if you have an island, consider using it for something functional so everything isn’t crammed along the walls.

Here are things I’d think about if it were me.
1. I might think about a bigger island that can fit 4, so you don’t need the dining room table 1. maybe move the microwave so it’s in the island 1. maybe add shelving above the fridge 1. maybe move the position of the vertical storage so it’s between the door and the window. this would allow me to do a bigger fridge or open up that side of the kitchen a little
