Dog & the bank is delicious! And yes, it’s beautiful too.

You could tell me that was a former anything turned into a bar and I’d believe you.

  3. Seeing my hometown show up even far down on the frontpage of reddit is fucking wild. This restaurant used to be an amazing British pub named Aries Cafe. They had one in Kalamazoo too but both have since closed. They had an amazing desert called black bottom pie and the best whitefish Grenoble I’ve ever had. You can still get both of them at the four roses cafe though which is where the old chef went I believe.

I can picture the people that work there, and the people that go there.

What part was originally the bank? Like the floor and wall tiles seem a little out of place for a bank and totally right for a restaurant.

I can immediately tell I’m going to pay $23 for a cheeseburger that has a weirdly thick layer of radishes and bone marrow jelly because the next most edible item is chicken with cauliflower breading smothered in a coffee and tobacco sauce for some god damn reason.

    It’s very pretty, though.

In Ohio we had a bank converted into a restaurant called Teller’s of Hyde Park. It still had the bank vault and stuff, pretty cool place. Unfortunately the pandemic ruined the business 😢

“Former” bank? What are you talking about, a bar or speakeasy is a perfect front for a bank or a brokerage! It’s the last place the law would suspect

Makes me sad that The Broker in Denver folded. Eating in the safe was an experience and their shrimp cocktail appetizers were freaking incredible.

I just got back from a week in Michigan. What is up with all the bar food restaurants?

Kalamazoo native here. Spent a lot of time and money at Aries Cafe. The Brothers Flynn were a hilarious and talented music act alway there. Food was amazing-steak and guiness pie! Good luck to The a dog and bank. Great location for a public house!
