The original island isn’t pictured in the “before” picture but use your imagination, it wasn’t very exciting. We just sealed the floors after sanding, no new stain, old nails and all.
The large glass wall cabinet with different stain to all the others is original to the house, we had to keep it. All custom cabinets, not a straight wall or level floor / ceiling.
There is a butlers pantry and large pantry closet not pictured so don’t get concerned about food storage. The range is the 48” AGA Elise induction. It seemed to fit well with the style of the house.
Merging the modern and the classic is always a challenge and I hope we met somewhere in the middle. Working on replacing the pendant light but frankly isn’t a huge priority. The floors have lots of flaws but I like the originality, to hide the issues would have meant I needed to stain really dark.
Also, the oven knobs are off the range to keep the newly walking baby out of trouble. Upside of induction, it doesn’t work without a pan on the hob.
Question for Reddit- Would you paint the brick behind the oven a contrast / different color?
