Closed at the opening, decanted for an hour. The nose was very elegant, discreet and shy with notes of wet stones, white fruit and a floral touch. The wine was very energetic, with a nice acidity and a silky texture that just drapes the palate in an elegant way. You can feel that Cyril Fhal is very high maintenance when it comes to his wines. The finale showed elegant bitters, with a classic viscosity. It feels rich but the high acidity brings balance to the wine.
Probably too young, it was nice to enjoy and to see the potential of this bottle. I would wait two or three years more and go for an opening two to three hours beforehand, with eventually a decanting after that. It’s still a bit closed but has a great future ahead of it. The reds are absolutely stunning, I find Clos du Rouge Gorge to be one of the best wines of Roussillon in general.
