I’m currently debating the same thing. I love zellige tile but worry that it’ll be a trend that I regret in a few years. I’m currently considering a plain 4×4 white ceramic tile. Think subway tile but in a square shape instead. Hoping it’s different enough from regular subway to feel special while also not being trendy either. But I’m still TBD!

I’d do subway tile. Timeless and easy to keep clean.

Herringbone pattern with 2×10 subway tile. Depending on what you find-Maybe frame off a square behind stove with something different, add subtle but unique tiles to it.
Like others said subway tile is timeless.

Avoid small tiles makes it look like a bathroom. The grout turn yellow with grease. Get a large piece of stainless sheet cut to size satin/ brushed finish. Take the cupboards down so the sheet goes behind and behind the range cooker. Silicone dark grey to worktop. Easy to keep clean with a wipe especially after cooking steaks or other oil splattering meals. Or just the same material as worktop with a large centre piece snd two smaller side pieces.

Damn it, you have the stove I want. I hope you love it!

Damn. We are doing our kitchen next month and I’m think the backsplash we picked would work really well for your space. Damn if I don’t have a pic of it. I’ll try and remember to get a pic and post it. If nothing else product information.

Copper above the stove, subway tile elsewhere

Subway tile with dark grey grout. Can never go wrong.

I’m seeing a lot of suggestions about subway tile, but that’s a very “safe” option. Your kitchen has individuality and a classic elegance to it that should have a backsplash which also reflects those qualities.

[Calgary Custom](https://www.pinterest.com/pin/449656344057473373/) used a medium scale marble tile.

[James May Homes](https://www.pinterest.com/pin/449656344054388759/) used white wash brick.

Property Brothers Drew Scott used a really cool inverted tile in [his kitchen](https://www.pinterest.com/pin/437764026291651251/s).

Check out Portuguese tiles. That’s about the same area we had and we had a subtle vine/geometric pattern installed. It was the focal point of the kitchen

Edit: do subway tile on both sides of the stove, the Portuguese tile in the square area over the stove

  11. We did Moroccan zellige tiles. They make any space loook amazing. Come in all colors shapes and sizes

Have you looked at Fireclay Tile? It’s all hand painted and their tiles have varying levels of color variation so you can achieve a sense of depth.

Without knowing anything else about your houea, a warmer white in the star and cross tile could be stunning against those cabinets. Like in the first shower picture at this link:

Would love a black subway tile, but couldn’t go wrong with white!

Have you been to a tile store? Most white tiles should do the trick, even subway tile (which isn’t trendy or cool anymore). Kit kat tile is the new trend, but it’s more grout than tile and cleaning that up sounds like a chore.

I would go for some kind of elongated rectangular shape (zelige style) and stack it vertically. The cabinets look massive so having vertical lines would be a nice contrast.
