My folks don’t have handles on the cabinets in their kitchen. It drives me nuts you end up scraping the wood with your nails getting a hold of them and the wood door isn’t as easy to wipe clean as a handle. The aesthetic is nice and clean but for actually using a kitchen I’d go with handles.

Cut out handles on the lower cabinets are ideal in my perspective, nothing to snag clothing on and easier wipe down when cleaning.

I’m redid my kitchen a coupes years ago with no handles. We are about to start on another kitchen now and I’m leaning for a more traditional timeless look with handles. BUT, this kitchen looks great i think.

We have handles like these, a lot of filth ends up in the grooves. I prefer handles, even though it doesnt look at great.

Looks great without the handles! Super sleek and modern.

I suppose it’s the age old argument of form over function. Really like the look but probably not as practical as having proper handles

You need to have handles to know which side opens and which is the hinge. Whether it’s prettier with some inset cutout, or a knob or a handle, is aesthetics. But being easy to open is function. Without function, you have frustration. I stay annually at a house where the cabinets have no handles and every single visitor there says the same thing: please install some effin handles!

I love the LOOK of no handles, but they’re just not practical.

Def no handles

Def no handles. I also love how the countertop stone and the drawers tops are cut diagonally, so that it appears that the stone of the countertop is sunk inside the wood. (or maybe just really thin countertop?)

I’m a kitchen drafty and handleless is most peoples go to these days. I will say for a design choice it’s preferred that most of the grooves align with exceptions like a 4 drawer bank

Maybe the example is a bad one but I can’t help but shake my head. I wonder what it would look like after 30 years of daily usage?
Kitchens are dirty places. Cabinets and drawers often get opened with dirty hands. Do you really want that stuff getting spread all over the edges of your cabinets with people’s wet, oily, and floured up fingers? With the long edge to grab, you’re now having to clean the entire length of the cutout as there’s no definitive position to push/grab/pull without a handle. People wear rings and jewelry as well. They will certainly scratch the cabinet doors over time. This will inevitably facilitate moisture getting into the wood.
It’s a lot easier to clean and maintain a handle than repair/replace the whole cabinet door/drawer. Handles are also more ergonomic for guests to use.

This style just reads “institution” to me. Like a vet’s office, a school, etc. But then again, I grew up in scandinavia so this flat cabinet look is the mass produced Ikea type which every budget conscious place has. Oddly enough, in the US it’s mostly expensive kitchens which have it, but I can’t not think it looks like they went to a fancy ikea.

I’d go with handles because there are times when I’ve needed to open one with hands full. Harder to do that with nothing to latch onto

This is cool. However, and not to be an ass here but this was a what and how do meant my garage to look like. No handles and clean lines.

Too sterile for me. I would be waiting for the Dr.

I’d change that outlet plate to a wood one from etsy.
