Remi Leroy tends a family domain of 9 hectares in the municipality of Meurville in the Côte des Bars. The soil of the vines is composed of clay-limestone with most of them in slopes and hillsides.
It’s made of an assemblage of (40%) Pinot Noir and (60%) Chardonnay from the 2018 vintage with 30% of reserve wine. The winemaking was carried out in stainless steel tank (85%) and (the rest) oak barrels. It aged for more than 36 months in oak barrels and was disgorged in april 2021. Dosage of 4,5g/L.
Slightly copper-colored. At first yeasty and brioche aromas with floral elements that evolved to a more delicate fruit-forward profile with pink grapefruit and white flesh fruits. In the palate it first tasted of wheat, citrusy and green apple juice with the fruit taking a while to shine, timid and hiding at first. Fine bubbles with a creamy and oily sensation that ensues that lingers on your mouth, delicately coating your tongue. Good and precise acidity that cuts through the residual sugar but there’s not much that lingers with a taut minerality. A touch of saltiness. Well balanced. Really good entry level champagne.

With the bottle still corked, what’s in the glass? 😉
