100% Gewurztraminer. Normally a grape that I really don’t care for, exception made of Schueller’s Cuvée Particulière. I’ve always had a soft spot for this bottle : the energy of Schueller’s wines brings some fresh air to the tastings, as sometimes bottles are downed too quickly.

The nose was surprisingly fresh, avoiding the heavy litchi notes of the Gewurztraminer to focus on this Schueller touch, with a notable acidity, these white fruit and watermelon notes, alongside a more rose-like note. Very expressive, maybe a little bit flirty even. The wine was very tense and crisp, with a ringing acidity that breaks down the round and fruity notes of the Gewurztraminer. It really refreshes the palate, brings a new freshness to your tasting. I love Schueller for this, his wines have always always managed to liven me up. You can definitely feel energy in the glass. As the wine opens up, it brings great bitters on the finale and a touch of salinity that builds up a perfect balance.

Another great wine by Schueller, 2020 still can wait (as should most of Schueller’s) but is still great to have now. Grab the Pinot Blanc if you can.
